Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, Agung Laksono, ask the people who live on the coast to be evacuated if necessary. The call was no threat of tsunami waves following especially in Eastern Indonesia (KTI).
"Immediately evacuate residents if necessary local government, the military, the National Agency for Disaster Penangulangan (BNPB) and disaster management agencies in the area to alert," said Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, Supreme Laksonomelalui telephone on Friday.
Court emphasized that the earthquake and tsunami in Japan is expected to have an impact on Indonesia. "The report says there is a possibility that entry leads to the Indonesian tsunami, so people should remain vigilant but calm do not panic," he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Pusdatin BNPB Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the tsunami probably occurred in West Papua, Papua, North Maluku, North Sulawesi, at around 18:00 pm.
"BNPB has asked local governments, military, police to inform the community on the coast for increased vigilance," he said. He also explained that Indonesia is threatening tsunami propagation effects of the earthquake and tsunami waves in Japan.
