Most Threatened Eastern Indonesia Tsunami
JAKARTA - The tsunami waves is estimated to threaten the eastern coastal area of Indonesia, namely West Papua, Papua, North Maluku, North Sulawesi and surrounding areas. Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Agung Laksono expressed concerns via telephone on Friday (11 / 3).
Court asks people, especially in eastern Indonesia to increase alertness. "All must be vigilant, particularly in Eastern Indonesia," Agung said. He also requested the evacuation of residents if necessary.
"If it is necessary to do immediate evacuation of residents to a safer place," he said. He also asked Climatology Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to continue to monitor the possibility of a tsunami.
He also asked the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to guard with all the possibilities. Yet he asked residents not to panic and raise awareness with poise.
Meanwhile, Chief Pusdatin BNPB Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the tsunami probably occurred in West Papua, Papua, North Maluku, North Sulawesi, at around 18:00 pm.
"BNPB has asked local governments, military, police to inform the community on the coast for increased vigilance," he said. He also explained that Indonesia is a tsunami that threatens the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami waves in Japan.
