Reactor No. 3 Fukushima of the Most Great Impact Also Problematic
TOKYO - A second nuclear reactor is experiencing serious problems following the earthquake that damaged power plants number 1 in Fukushima in northern Japan, which experienced a massive explosion on Saturday.
Plant operator, Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco), said the increased pressure inside the reactor No. 3 after a loss of emergency cooling system. Similar problems have caused the explosion at reactor No. 1.Para technicians struggling to cope.
But the BBC website said the second reactor is a different type of reactor that exploded on Saturday. These reactors use MOX (plutonium plus uranium) which, if exploded then the consequences will cause more severe problems.
Quoted by Kyodo, the source said the summit Tepco MOX fuel rods is 3 feet above the water. Meanwhile, Tepco said at least 15 people at a nearby hospital that was found had been exposed to radio active. The Japanese government has so far set to double the size of the evacuation zone around Fukushima 1 to 20km (12.4 miles) after the explosion. The government has urged local residents to remain calm and are preparing to distribute to anyone exposed to iodine radioactive.
The UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said in a statement expressed within a radius of 20 km around Fukushima [No. 1] Daiichi, which is estimated 170 thousand people have been evacuated.
"Within a radius of 10 kilometers around Fukushima [No. 2] Daini is estimated around 30 thousand people were evacuated and the evacuation of Control has not completed action."
NPP is vital for Japan. The country is heavily dependent for its energy needs in the NPP, while on the other hand, natural conditions they are very vulnerable to earthquakes.
