Tsunami Warning Delivered to 20 Countries Least


TOKYO - Not only Indonesia, the Philippines, New Zealand, and Hawaii, who advised the tsunami alert after 8.9-scale earthquake struck Japan Ritchter. Authorized authorities have sent a warning message to a least 20 states and various islands of the Pacific for tsunami alert.

But Japan's Ministry of National Weather admitted sending the first message to countries hit by the tsunami of high potential, including Russia and Indonesia, the Central American countries like Guatemala, El Salvador, and Costa Rica, and Hawaii.

Countries that receive a tsunami is:, Russia, Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Fiji, Mexico, New Zealand, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and the United States.

Pacific islands, including some U.S. regions, are also included in daftar.Pihak authorities in Guam said the tsunami could hit the island at 19:09. Authorities in the Philippines said the tsunami would arrive in the country at 18:00, as well as in Papua, North Maluku and North Sulawesi. Tsunami warning sirens had sounded in Hawaii since two hours ago.

Chip McCreary of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said officials estimate the tsunami can cause big waves as high as up to 2 meters above normal sea level.

"This is a very large earthquake. We tmemprediksi same size as last year's earthquake in Chile," he said.
